轟炸永康飛行場?

[註: 本文是1月11日《Bombing Eiko Airfield?》的中文版]
美國海軍部在1944年6月完成的《福爾摩沙的機場與水上飛機場》情報分析報告中提到，永康飛行場位於北緯23 02′，東經120 14′，這樣的資訊在GPS出現前數十年的時代裡算是相當正確的。這份報告進一步指出，永康飛行場位在「台灣西南部，距海岸線約6英里。也就是在台南東北方3英里處，剛好位於通往台南的主要道路的南面。往東4英里是新化，台南飛行場則在其南南西方6英里處。」報告裡還附了一張永康飛行場的空照圖，顯示美軍已經掌握了相當的資訊。

Bombing Eiko Airfield?

The intelligence report titled Airfield and Seaplane Bases in Formosa, Air Intelligence Group, Division of Naval Intelligence, Office of the Chief Naval Operations, Navy Department, June 1944, gave the coordinates of Eiko (currently Yungkang of Taian; 永康) Airfield as 23 02′N 120 14′E, which was pretty accurate during the pre-GPS era. 前美國總統尼克森在1971年7月中公開宣佈將於次年訪問中華人民共和國，對當時的中華民國政府造成極大的衝擊，這也讓美國擔心國府是否會做出激烈的手段。當尼克森的國家安全助理季辛吉在同年10月20日二度前往中國，為尼克森的訪問行程作準備時，在一次會談中對中國總理周恩來表示，美國已經獲得情報，國府打算派遣RF-104偵察機進入中國大陸，藉此阻撓華盛頓與北京的對話，但美方已經出手阻止。以下文字節錄自季辛吉與周恩來在10月23日的會談記錄，季辛吉所稱的R-104應該是RF-104之誤：
